Jane Birkin took me back to my dark brown maxi-coat days. Had those black criss-cross lace up boots too that took ages to get off after a good Saturday night out. I have hardly any photos of my yoof, like most of us, we either did not own cameras and even if we did, pics were reserved for high days and holidays. Lovely how a song can carry you back in time.
Wonderful! I had a dark green maxi-coat and I wore it over hot pants and those long boots too. The coat died when it got caught in my bike wheel and caused me to crash while pregnant! You can find my account of that story here:
I don't have many photos of my youth either.... it wasn't high on the agenda in the 70s was it? But, as you say, the music evokes the precious memories with such nostalgia.
I was living in Spain 2006ish when that video was everywhere on the telly. I confess that, at the time, I could not figure out why she was all covered in black goo. It has significance now tho....
