I didn't know the backstory to Bentham, thanks for digging that up. That we are ruled by a global gangster elite has been clear to me for a while, but I lacked some of the info, like Inmarsat. That you actually worked for them is fascinating . What can we do? Be aware, be alert, be smarter than these lovely folk, which is a tall order. I am ancient and watching the destruction of the world I used to know with a confused mix of sadness and horror. Worst of all, I can't imagine life without the internet...though I lived without it most of my life. Just goes to show how we are all creatures of habit. Habit created by others. Convenience created by engineers and technocrats. The public is totally befuddled, and that is what the international cabal is counting on. This story is just too much like a giant conspiracy theory that they have always been told to dis- believe. And they won't. Especially the bourgeoisie; they simply will not look at anything that is too frightening. The Truth is simply not convenient for their world view and so, it will be ignored.
I am fairly ancient too! I just passed my 70th birthday and would miss the internet a lot, mainly for the research facility and feedback I get on my articles and comments.
Years ago I wrote for corporations and, in my spare time, on Fanzines and Music flyers, waxing lyrical to bring punters to gigs and festivals. Nobody ever said a word about my efforts!
I find the interaction on the internet at speed highly educational and satisfying.... Communication matters, especially now that education has become limited to a narrow prescribed narrative. Yes, I would really miss it and not only for ordering obscure items from Ebay!
I was having a discussion yesterday with someone saying NOT to get off Facebook and Twitter, both instruments of control and spying, because it's "what they want." I'll tell you what "they" DON'T want, and that is for us to return to our communities, bond IRL, and stop communicating everything we think and plan ON SITES THEY CAN SPY ON.

Despite moral arguments, abolition of slavery didn’t really get accomplished until humans figured out how to stick a straw in the earth and harvest the delectable hydrocarbon free energy therein. Steam engines and electrification were much cheaper, scalable, controllable, and simply could do powerful things that no group of people or draft animals could ever do. Computation took it even further. Seems to me that as fossil energy wanes and renewables fall short, slavery will soon make a comeback. This article shows how the modern iteration will look, at it takes into account the new-to-humanity combo of physical control and AI control. No need for obsolete human spirit and creativity. Not much need for many humans at all.
