[Verse 1]
We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgment of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song
[Chorus]
I'll tip my hat to the new Constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
[Verse 2]
Change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they all flown in the last war
[Chorus]
I'll tip my hat to the new Constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
No, no
[Bridge]
I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half-alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
For I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do you?

"Won't Get Fooled Again" is a song by the English rock band the Who, written by Pete Townshend. It was released as a single in June 1971, reaching the top 10 in the UK, while the full eight-and-a-half-minute version appears as the final track on the band's 1971 album Who's Next, released that August.
I had seen the Who at the Marquee Club in London. I think it was around 1967 or 1968. They were very popular in London at that time, but were not nationally known. They were wild, like all East End kids were. We loved their music and, when they later converted all the songs into an album in 1971, we already knew all the lyrics backwards.
Their song - My Generation - spoke of us, but also for future generations who came to know and respect this great rock band. I could not believe how great they looked in 2015. I was proud of them.
Good 1 Frances from one septuagenarian to another, I still enjoy the sound and lyrics of the Who purely for their intent, regardless of the fact that they did "get fooled again." "It is easier to fool people, than to tell them they have been fooled" ~ Mark Twain
such a great song that this WHO band has not lived by within their own lyrics.
