I don't approve of the behaviour of your nation's representatives about nearly everything. But it's one of the mainstays of sociology and biology that man needs an adversary, an enemy if you will (you see it in work place competition, sports etc.). And our representatives are very handy in maneuvering the masses in accepting the adversary of their choice. The formation of BRICS is helping in that respect.
Finally, our representatives have a traditional knack of moving us from a regular economy to a war economy, once the former stops working properly. So my question is, if you had to choose, which would you rather have, war on a national or regional basis or slavery on a global basis? And don't say neither, that's so 60's...

You have created a false dichotomy. Man absolutely does not need an adversary/enemy. What humanity needs more than anything is unity. United we stand, divided we fall, etc. Divide and conquer is our downfall. They are afraid of us, and only by continually sowing strife, division and hate can they continue to control, manipulate and harvest us. We need to see through their evil games and push back hard, together.
I admire your idealism, but we are NEVER going to see unity. Solzhenitsyn even wrote about it. There will be a group of people that will defend the system, even if it causes their own demise, or even death. The best we can hope for is that we can attain a critical mass of people who resist, and we get the sheeple to follow us instead of them.
And for that to happen, we have to have something that we've put preciously little thought into: a viable alternative to the globalist death cult. Resisting and pushing back hard is not for everybody. And we must do something that is very difficult as resistance, accept people whose mindset we dislike, and even despise. Otherwise it's only resistance for resistance sake, and that will lead us nowhere.
I read an interesting Russian appraisal of Solzhenitsyn's work. They were not at all complimentary. The opinion was that Solzhenitsyn was working for the West, producing propaganda and lies to foment hatred against Russia. They claimed that much of his reporting was heavily exaggerated and flawed.
I spent my teenage years in South Africa, long before apartheid was toppled. Solzhenitsyn books were very hard to find, apart from One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich. The latter is fairly short, and unequivocally says that the Soviet system is (was) cruel and brutal. His other books are rather longer, denser, tricky to read, so my guess is the censors couldn't be bothered and just banned them anyway purely because he was Russian.
