Hello Mr. Leader,

well, I use the browser Qwant and have had no trouble finding anything yet, but of course you are right that everyone should think or speak with family and friends about this, because this is a massive interference with the freedom of information....

Frances, these shenanigans have causes. We are not looking at the causes and now the effects of the causes are metastasizing. What are the causes? What is the cause of it all ultimately? Does anyone want to talk about this? I have my observations and analyses but I never hear anyone talking about this. Shouldn't we be talking about the causes?

Expand full comment
Frances Leader's avatar

The causes are many but I know from all your previous comments that you are convinced that patriarchy is the devil in the detail.

As patriarchy has been prevalent in the world since pre-Roman times, I don't think talking about it will achieve much.

I would happily revert to a Celtic tribal lifestyle, where nature was the only goddess. However, that culture was driven almost to extinction by those who chose to wield the sword rather than the sickle. The results we are now reaping have metastasised to such an extent already that few people have the skills to survive without the patriarchal system supporting them.

It is designed to be like that.

We have been weakened, poisoned, indoctrinated and imprisoned but very few of us realise it.

denise ward's avatar

Well that sounds like your mind is made up and therefore dooms us to that fate. However let's talk about the causes not "not" talk about them. Otherwise we really will be doomed. It's much like the people who believe covid is real - they don't want to talk about it. When that feeling comes along - that we don't want to talk about something - then it's a signal that we absolutely need to. So you think it is patriarchy but we're stuck with it? Of course the idiom goes that if we think we can or we can't, we're right. Women especially, and children, have got everything to lose by its continuation. I don't go for the goddess bs either. What we need to aim for is egalitarianism and get out of this hole of domination where we're like chickens pecking at each other. I'm not trying to debase males, I have a son and lots of male friends, but I am calling a spade a spade so that we can move on to something totally better than patriarchy and even matriarchy because now we have something that no other culture had - the internet. And this can make everyone have equal voice - and this is momentous! And we are the children of the internet - we are in a momentous position of being able to uproot everything and replant in the way that lifts everyone. Why shouldn't we talk about that? Talking is the antidote actually because it's what oils the mental machine. It is heartbreaking to hear women say this as women have so much to lose, and we only have a small window before the crackdown comes round again.

You are an argument waiting to happen.

You misinterpret my comment entirely.

I will not be dominated by you or your knee jerk reactions to YOUR PERCEPTIONS of my opinions. Read what I said again. Do not try bullying tactics on me again. GET IT?

denise ward's avatar

Well first off, I'm not bullying you but you see it that way. It is perfectly inkeeping with the program. What? You think it's not in you? Try to come from the heart and not the ego if you could and explain how you interpreted my words as being bullying? First off there is no such thing as bullying in text as bullying implies an inferior and a superior and that's not the case here as we're both perfectly equivalent in intelligence, no mental disability and such. And it's not posing any physical or financial harm. Well that's my definition. But see, here we are, arguing about YOUR feelings. Do you think reading your response doesn't illicit an emotion in me? But that doesn't count does it? I don't hold you responsible for my interpretations or feelings, so if you feel that way it's got to be explained and not just accused. That's how we get into these tumbleweeds. Don't worry, even the highest thinkers do this. I think it's because they don't think they have any further to traverse or something. I sure would like to know. What I like about this is that it's all open source and everyone can get to see the pattern. I have oodles of transcripts just like this. I always hope to find someone who isn't in the program. I have found one person so far and some who are learning to get out of it. But it's clingy, it is hard to shake off. It is the germ in our communications that we don't understand because of how it hides itself. And our communications are the basis of everything we do. You gotta love its tenacity!

Your style of online bullying is different to 'traditional' bullying:

Misinterpretation, misquoting and assumptions - are forms of bullying a victim into defending themselves over things they did not actually say.

24/7 nature - the nature of online activity means you can be in contact at any time.

There is the potential for a wider audience and bullying incidents can stay online.

Evidence - some online bullies create arguments to take screen shots which they later use to attack victims or create a case against them.

Potential to hide your identity - which makes online bullying incidents very hard to prosecute.

Degree of separation - people who cyberbully often don't see the reaction of those experiencing it.

Finally - persisting in psychological bullying indicates either a lack of self awareness or a deliberate attempt to antagonise and dominate.

It actually causes me distress to hear people react so hostile to what I simply call speaking my truth. But I realize this is the contagion in our society,, suspicion, mistrust, pessimism, hubris, domination over another. I only want to practice sovereignty - isn't there anybody who wants to do this? Are we going to continue to act like slaves slamming each other while everyone bows to their masters. It's the pecking order. Maybe if you knew my credentials you wouldn't do that because well, bootlicking as they call it. I think you have been extremely rude and off base towards my comments. I don't like to let things go like most people because I'm not willing to accept these conditions. And we're still able to say what we think but that window is closing in. You surely don't want to be one of the ones who contributes to that vibe.

denise ward's avatar

Well that may be so but where did I misinterpret, misquote, or assume? We have to back claims with substance don't we? (otherwise all sorts of aberrations happen, like dulled minds telling intelligent minds to take a poison jab, wear a mask, etc) Online is the safest place for truth to blossom because there is no physical danger. You're essentially saying that online isn't safe either, and that's paranoia. There is no way I'll come over to the UK from the US to "get ya". So really that's a furfie, and a defense of your inability to debate. Debating is a very important skill to have if we are to move to an intelligent society. I'm not saying you're incapable just that this is not how it's done - by attacking the person and not the issue. Just calling me a bully without any substantiation is actually closer to the definition of bullying. You are talking about people who do horrid things and associating my simple discourse to those. I am fully open about my identity. You can find anything you like on me. I live in the open, because I see this as the way out of this entrapment. Free speech is our way out! Even if I meant to "antagonize and dominate", you still haven't answered any of my points. You simply rose up in defense of something YOU perceived. Sorry about the caps but italics don't work on this format.

When was the last time anyone heard the term Net Neutrality? It disappeared about the same time this phenomenon metastasized.

Your timing is impeccable. Omg. This past week had me cursing the net out loud that “I can’t find anything anymore!”

In recent instances I was looking for benign technical discussions that were the type of thing that populated the net in the past: forum pages, with a moderator who set them up. Vast insider tricks of the trade. They’ve virtually disappeared from every search engine, replaced with “Strictly Commercial” let me sell you a new (overpriced) thing crap. Many websites, yes, but many of them saying the exact same thing verbatim.

Around 2012 was perhaps Peak Internet as far as I can tell. The amount of info that found it’s way there was vast but as yet corporate.gov NGOish influence was not yet able to smother the rest.

I miss stumbling across the utterly interesting, eccentric, and insightful characters who found their voices on internet 1.0.

When did that trollop Hillary Clinton say "We are losing the information war!"?

I noticed that seemed to be the turning point.

She obeys the stooges at the CFR and they obey Chatham House.

Around that time Al Jazeera published a terrific short graphic/comic called “terms of service” about the Faceborg terms of service. A real eye opener. I found FB to feel subliminally manipulative from the beginning so I stayed clear of it. I merely forwarded that piece to the friends I lost to FB. And social media terms of service only got worse from there.

PS, ever notice that long time friends who got locked into FB early have “narrowed” over the years? I mean in interests and range of opinion. It’s truly frightening.

Facebook ejected me completely and with zero access to their tripe as a New Year's Eve present as we celebrated 2022. Discord did the same during the same timeframe costing me contact with 5,000 friends and over 7,000 followers. Twitter had ejected me from 3 accounts during the previous year. I lost contact with over 12,000 followers.

I have managed to reconnect with only a very few by phone and email. So I cannot comment on the state of mind of the average FB user. Most of the people who communicated with me on that social media platform were probably ejected for having a brain, as I was..... such is the selectivity of algorithms and community guidelines!

As I am in UK I did not see Al Jazeera's neat cartoon strip on their American channel. I must admit that it is very clever!

LOTS of good sites vanished in the last two years. I'm afraid that those who haven't made up their minds by now, will have a difficult time finding good sources in the future.

Controlled opposition sites also offer data and information, but you have to be able to ignore the BS out of them, which is only possible if you are already quite ahead of current events.
