I'm not "having a go" at anyone but can't help noticing the patriarchal habit of people giving their credentials up front. It's like saying "I'm competent in my opinions because I've done this, this and this". And it teaches people that credentials are the all-important factor. When really what we need to be retrained in is making sense. If it makes sense, not who's saying it and how much they know. This infers that they cannot be challenged because they have so much expertise behind them. Does anyone see this as well? I feel there is too much emphasis on credentials these days and women need to change the habit. Not that credentials are not a factor but they are usually a minor factor. It also essentially sounds like blowing one's own horn, which again is you know, the p word.
