Frances, I had been meaning for some time to say (and I am going to use pop culture references) that (and I realize you would have been younger at that point in time) that I could easily have seen yourself amidst the gang of 'To Sir with Love'; right in the thick of it with Lulu! As Austin Powers would say Groovy, baby!" I commend you for not accepting those cash offers!! Way to stick to your integrity. Great pics and a great romp down memory lane! As for the Bruce Springsteen link. Too bad he's a Democrat!!
I don't see children any more, just lots of mini Kim Kardashian look at me and my Arse! types and why does everyone have 2 inch thick eyebrows with super big eye lashes? the lads are no better in the chav track suits but most of all is their behaviour is so rude, agressive and grotesque to see in children in gangs running amuck in super stores, it's a different world to the one I was brought up in and for the better. https://www.eastlothiancourier.com/news/20205386.video-group-youths-attack-teen-musselburgh-bus/
I think nearly everyone would have reacted back in the 80's because we would react intuitively but now people have been brain washed ,nothing to do with me, better not get involved, I knew some one who was on the bus and didn't do anything in case he got arrested for hurting kids, I don't think in those terms when it comes to children and animals being hurt, there's no excuse not to help people who are under attack by thugs. And I know by your articles that you would be exactly the same Frances, doing nothing is doing some thing! and by writing articles on so many well researched subjects is definitely doing some thing for me!, so many nice folk on substack, We are not Alone .Respect and love to all. Dave.X
They were certainly the days and I don't think we realised what we had at the time, from one festival to another and one pub to a house party to a gig/club and so on, great photo's of fun and just as I remembered it in sunny Stockbridge in Edinburgh
We deffo didn't have TIME to appreciate our fantastic lifestyle, did we? Far too busy doing it! I wish our grandkids could have something like it but I don't see it happening since lockdowns kicked the joy out of their lives. They seem a very serious generation, or is that just my observations locally?
Where are you? I lived in Madrigal de la Vera, Extremadura for many years. I know exactly what you mean! Even the water in my pool was 28 degs centigrade yet in comparison with the air temperature it felt cool.
They seldom got out of their deckchairs, Will...... preferring to send the wife or the kids to buy their choc ices! My biggest worry was large groups of young lager louts yelling at me to come over. Mind you, they would certainly help everyone around to notice me which served to stimulate sales so.....
Hey Frances, you were hot...and not bothered ! I remember the seventies well; where have those days of summer fun gone? Are we all turning into no fun nation? Sure looks that way...but I refuse to give in. I am looking forward to ageing ever more disgracefully over here in staid, communist Canada.
Marvellous! Ageing disgracefully is my latest hobby. I am getting really good at it too! lmfao!
I think all our 5-Eyes nations are equally staid and actually much worse than communism. This is totalitarianism on steroids, wouldn't you agree?
Aussie, Kiwi, American and even South African friends are kicking off about their political regimes which seem to have suffered from infiltration by Common Purpose and WEF Global Young Leaders..... do you think their training programmes taught them to be boring bastards?
Oh no, they were boring at birth! The real problem is that the war in U is serving the elites to obfuscate what they are doing right here under our noses. As Gore Vidal said shortly before he died: We can date from 1950 the gradual erosion of liberties, all in order to benefit an elite. He was talking about warmongering...
I was an American airman in the USAF stationed in Thailand in 1976 when the students there “inspired” their government to throw us out. I was sent to RAF Bentwaters in East Anglia and for nearly three months it was hot and clear with reports of Brits dying due to excessive heat. Being a clueless kid, I though the weather was marvelous and had amazingly good times living with my gal in a thatched roof duplex built in 1779. The locals liked us and even let me join a local golf club and allowed me to down pints in my town’s pub after hours. Except for the war exercises we occasionally had to play on base - with no ammo or actual filters for our gas masks. the time I spent in England was the best.
You know, I don't remember watching TV or reading newspapers at all in the 70s so I was completely oblivious of people dying from the heat.
You were so fortunate to stay in Blighty for that summer, and such a lovely part of the country too! I was also in East Anglia region, at Clacton on Sea in Essex.
Even then I felt extremely fortunate to live near Woodbridge. Yes a breathtakingly beautiful area.
I did indulge in watching some British TV since I had to buy a license to partake. I can almost picture Benny Hill chasing you and your pretty friend around.
i grew up in a sea side town on the south west coast, i was only born in 76 but all i heard was about how bloody hot it was! i do remember hosepipe bans back in the day and having to fetch water from the local standpipe, now i can barely get a tan

I didn't care about Loose Springboard's politics - he was all Alpha Male to me at the time!
I can fully understand. I am certain that I had similar thoughts about ladies for whom similar could be said.
, it's a different world to the one I was brought up in and for the better!! MISPRINT, the world I was brought up in was much better. Duh!!!

WHERE'S THE BLOODY ADULTS ??
The bus driver should have stopped immediately and ejected the bullies. I drove buses in the 80s and that would have been my reaction.

It starts like a watercolor painting. Love it!
Here in Spain we spend nights at 28 ºC and it reaches 41 at noon. SAME AS ALL THE OTHER FUCKING YEARS!!!
The coast is better.

What a babe, oooh, la la! Wonderful memories, xo.
Those were the printable ones....
^_^ Cheers.
love the pics & the lovely memory/story thanks so much ♥
My pleasure! I wanted a day off from hell.....
Enough said!
xx
You certainly were not vitamin D deficient, Leader. Did the bandy leg old chaps take their time trying to decide which treat to buy?

I loved reading this.❤️
So happy to hear that! We need some positivity occasionally, especially nowadays! xx

She was one of us.

She was very talented when she was young. So is her ex husband Tony Visconti, his career has been phenomenal.

Gawd, that letch? Don't remind me of what passed for comedy in UK television in those days! Cringeworthy!

It is sad. My neighbour goes to a tanning salon - in July! Never would have believed it in the 70s.
