Oh my! Not an easy read. Is it true what they say "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" !? Even though I had an idea this was part of your life story was still shocking to read. Glad I took some time recently to heal myself or I would not have been able to read this. I had victim mentality for so long. Now I'm grateful for EVERY experience I've had. I am enjoying reading your life story.
I had two rooms. Each had a yale lock, they were separate rooms. Dylan and Dan usually slept in the kitchen/diner because it was easy to keep warm. My bedroom was along the hall - the two rooms did not even share a wall. It is hard to explain the layout. Plus, the night of the rape was also a very loud storm. Even if Dylan had heard anything, he could not get out of the kitchen diner. This was why I brought them to sleep with me, after that.
I am very happy you like it. I know that the story is like a roller coaster. It continues like that. Up and down until I was dizzy! But it shaped me into a stronger more resilient person, fit & fearless. I treated every event like an opportunity for growth and I never took anything for granted. I always pushed myself to succeed, even when the odds looked impossible.
I would not swap my life for any easy ride. It was an amazing adventure that I can recall without regrets. Sure, I made some howling mistakes and bit off more than I could chew many times, but now, I look at where I am and I am grateful to have done so much in my brief 25,000 days! xx
