You can buy followers and promote your schtick. You can get "as seen on NBC" or any major news outlet with money 500 bucks for the "as seen on." Gives you credibility that doesnt exist. Twitter and FB followers can be bought for 50 bucks. 1000s of followers on Fb or twitter and youtube. None of it is real. People will follow you in India or Africa for a dime. It us all illusion.

I have been frustrated that some accounts only let paid subscribers read the full article or enter comments. I can’t afford to pay for all the substackers I follow, and some are open to tell you a little donation is helpful.
I’ve been thinking rather than paying for each individual Substack, it would be nicer to pay a flat monthly fee for a certain number of authors. Like, $10/mo. would buy you 3 subscriptions, $20/mo. would buy you 7, etc. Or something like that. There are way too many authors on here that I want to read, but I can’t afford to pay for each individual one. Luckily most authors offer some free content (for now), so I haven’t been paying for any of them, but I would gladly pay a monthly fee if I could read from numerous authors...
