I am sure I wasn't the only one wondering. As a 70 year old ex hippie myself I thank you for the clarification. Even hippies need to keep their metaphysical categories clear.
I love this song! I didn't know it had all these verses, but I learned it in church camp and then I found it again when I used to play guitar in a pub, and everybody loved it, even though I only knew three verses. Sweet! Thanks!
As a French-Canadian, I sang this song in French when it came out in the 60s. Wonderful song that hit # 1 on the billboards. Goes to show you what 3 guitar chords can do!
Out of curiosity, with all the rainbow coloured hearts, are you LGBQT? If so, in the context of this post, I'm not sure St. Dominic would approve....Just wondering..
🤣😂 Since when do gender confused people own the rainbow? I am an old hippy with no confusion about my gender whatsoever. I just love hearts and rainbows! At 70 years young, I still remember when rainbows meant sunshine after rain..... not some sort of ID code for attention seekers.
ps
My pronouns are fucking off. This clown world does not deserve me.
It is so phoney! So virtue signalling.... ew, it is creepy! I am glad I am old and a bit of a hermit. I would rant and rave like a banshee if I was asked about my pronouns!
I spent time on retreat at Hilfield Friary, Cerne Abbas - following my in father's footsteps - he had told me much about this special place - that serenity that can be found in the quiet and silence. The Franciscan friars taught me much about St Francis of Assisi, a rich man who gave away all his wealth in order to find his Master.
Yeah, similar story to St Dominic. I am very fond of the stories of Francis of Assisi but I needed to research St Dominic for my novel which is serialised here on Substack. If one of my characters ever goes to Assisi I will have to write about him, ooh joy!
Thank you for this

Yes they stole the rainbow and the word gay...sad
Are you kidding? You mean people actually ask what your pronouns should be?

Oh... you just opened floodgates of memories for me!..
I was brought up in a catholic family and we used to sing this song, when I was a child.
I had completely forgotten about it. Thank you
I love it too! It was played a lot on BBC radio when I was a youngster.

So, inquisitions 2.0?
He lived during the times of Eleanor of Aquitaine, an entirely amazing story on its own that no one seems to know about.
Ya mean, Hollywood hasn't done it? Thank goodness for that small mercy! lol

Ooh Van Morrison! The master! Thanks xx
Shammy cleaning all the windows
Singing songs about Edith Piaf's soul
And I hear blue strains of no regredior
Across the street from Cathedral Notre Dame
Meanwhile back in San Francisco
We're trying hard to make this whole thing blend
As we sit upon this jagged
Storey block, with you my friend
And it's a long way to Buffalo
It's a long way to Belfast city too
And I'm hoping the choice won't blow the hoist
'Cause this town, they bit off more than they can chew
As we gaze out on, as we gaze out on
As we gaze out on, as we gaze out on

All the orange boxes are scattered
Against the Safeway's supermarket in the rain
And everybody feels so determined
Not to feel anyone else's pain
No one's making no commitments
To anybody but themselves
Talkin' behind closed doorways
Tryin' to get outside, get outside of empty shells
And for every cross cuttin' country corner, country corner
For every Hank Williams railroad train that cried
And all the chains, badges, flags and emblems
And every strain on brain and every eye
As we gaze out on, as we gaze out on
As we gaze out on, as we gaze out on

All the restaurant tables are completely covered
And the record company has paid out for the wine
You got everything in the world you ever wanted
Right about now your face should wear a smile
That's the way it all should happen
When you're in, when you're in the state you're in
And you've got your pen and notebook ready
I think it's about time, time for us to begin
And meanwhile we're over in a 52nd Street apartment
Socializing with the wino few
Just to be hip and get wet with the jet set
But they're flying too high to see my point of view
As we gaze out on, as we gaze out on
As we gaze out on, as we gaze out on
