Soros Foundations Directly Financing Ukraine’s ‘Defenders’
April 12 (EIRNS)—Two financial conduits of Anglophile U.S. billionaire George Soros proudly announce they are backing and financing the Ukrainian war effort.
On March 3, the Soros’s Open Society Foundations website announced: “The Open Society Foundations today are pledging an initial $25 million to launch the Ukraine Democracy Fund and urge other funders to join us in supporting civil society in Ukraine in response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s assault on democracy....
“ ‘This is a defining moment for open societies,’ said Mark Malloch-Brown, president of the Foundations. ‘Whatever the Kremlin might say, it is clear that what Putin is really afraid of is neither NATO nor nuclear weapons, but a free and flourishing democracy on his doorstep.’ ”
Malloch-Brown, a member of Queen Elizabeth’s Privy Council, served from 2007-2009 in the Foreign Office and Commonwealth Office (formerly Foreign and Colonial Office) as Minister of State in charge of Africa and Asia. In 2007, he was named vice-chairman of Soros’s Quantum Fund and also vice-chairman of the Open Society Institute. The Queen knighted him in 2007 as Knight Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, or KCMG, and he is an adjunct fellow at Chatham House’s Queen Elizabeth Programme. Keeping his colonialist hand in, Lord Malloch-Brown has led the Royal Africa Society, and also served as vice-chairman of the World Economic Forum.

The Open Society has been working since 1990 in Ukraine, through the International Renaissance Foundation (IRF), which published on its website on March 23, “In the first three weeks of Russia’s full-scale war with Ukraine, we have supported 80 requests and spent 22 million hryvnias [$7.4 million] to help Ukraine, our defenders, and civil society....”
Reported IRF: “We spent over 30% of the money protecting our defenders, both the Armed Forces and the Territorial Defense Forces. We have met more than 30 requests from military units and volunteer groups from the front line and nearby: ammunition, drones, fuel, medical supplies, etc. This contribution is the least we could do in the early days of the war to pay tribute to our defenders.” Remains to be seen if these “volunteer groups from the frontline” include the neo-Nazi militias like the Azov Battalion. IRF also offers financing for another of Soros’s wars: “Promoting Ukraine’s participation in the European Green Deal.”
India Not Dancing to Washington’s Tune
April 12 (EIRNS)—Following multiple threatening visits by senior U.S. officials to New Delhi, the April 6 diktat from Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman that “we, obviously, would prefer that India move away from their long-term history of non-alignment G77 partnership with Russia”; and a personal intervention by President Biden before the Washington meeting of the two countries’ diplomatic and defense ministers on April 11—at the end of the day, India did not bow to the key U.S. demands: That India condemn Russia as responsible for the Ukraine war and human rights violations, and that India slow, and then stop its energy and defense purchases from Russia.
Russia is not mentioned in the final statement issued after the “2+2” ministerial, and Ukraine is mentioned only once, and then only to report that “the Ministers reviewed mutual efforts to respond to the worsening humanitarian crisis in Ukraine” and urged an immediate cessation of hostilities.
The White House had arranged for a call between Joe Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately before the 2+2 was to begin. Publicly, Biden said they would be discussing the effects of “the Russian war”; Modi spoke of his personal efforts to foster direct talks between the Presidents of Russia and Ukraine, and India’s hopes that the ongoing negotiations between those countries would lead to peace. The “senior administration official” who gave a background briefing on the private one-hour talk which followed, four times described their talk as “candid” or “very candid”—standard diplomatic language for a brawl.
Washington’s arrogance is impressive: White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters afterwards that Biden had “conveyed” to Modi that “it is not in India’s interest to accelerate or increase imports of Russian energy and other commodities,” and made “clear what the impact ... of our sanctions would be.” She also reported that Biden “made clear that we would be happy to help them in diversifying” energy imports, to not rely on Russia.
“Diversifying” means giving up fossil fuels, Secretary of State Antony Blinken made clear in the joint press conference after the 2+2. He acknowledged India’s huge power needs (“India is the third largest consumer of energy in the world.... Electricity demand is projected to double by 2030”), but asserted that the way to meet “the needs of the Indian people, the Indian economy” is by fulfilling India’s COP26 climate goals. He offered work being done at the Energy Bureau of the State Department “on the most economical decarbonization pathways.”
Add to all this, the brazen admission by the senior Biden administration official giving the background briefing, that the U.S. views India’s border conflict with China as useful to its designs to swing India against Russia: “We know that India has concerns about the links between Russia and China. India, of course, is facing a very tense situation along the Line of Actual Control. And when India sees the tight links between China and Russia, that’s obviously going to impact their thinking,” the unnamed official volunteered.
Blinken “Discovers” Human Rights Abuses in India
April 12 (EIRNS)—During the press conference following the 2+2 meeting with India’s Defense and External Affairs Ministers, U.S. Secretary of State Blinken made an announcement regarding the relationship between the two countries: “We also share a commitment to our democratic values, such as protecting human rights. We regularly engage with our Indian partners on these shared values, and to that end we’re monitoring some recent concerning developments in India, including a rise in human rights abuses by some government, police, and prison officials.”
Are the most “concerning developments in India” that nation’s decisions not to join in on the attacks against Russia?
Kenya Declines Zelenskyy’s Request to Address Parliament
April 12 (EIRNS)—On April 12, a senior official of Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs told a major Kenyan newspaper, The Nation, that Nairobi had declined a request from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to address Kenya’s parliament. Since Ukraine has other diplomatic channels available, the official said, “Why would they want to address the Kenyan Parliament, for instance?” Is there a precedence?”
The official reported that Kenya, particularly due to its status as an African representative on the UN Security Council, does not want to appear to be taking sides in the conflict, since it hopes “to see an end to the war.” The official explained: “We have made principled decisions which we took from an African position. We are there [at the UNSC] as Africa representatives.”
The African Union has condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but has opposed the heavy sanctions other nations have imposed on Russia.
Kenya abstained on the UN General Assembly vote on April 7 to suspend Russia’s membership in the UN Human Rights Council, which Russia countered by terminating its membership in the UNHRC altogether.
Bosch CEO Against Embargo of Russian Gas
April 12 (EIRNS)—The southwest German branch of IG Metall, the metal workers trade union, has already warned, that without gas deliveries, companies face having to stop production. Stefan Hartung, the head of the Bosch technology group from Stuttgart, agrees with that opinion, warning in an April 8 interview with the business daily Handelsblatt, that Germany should not stop purchasing gas supplies from Russia prematurely.
The consequences of the war in Ukraine are also being clearly felt in the German automotive industry. Mercedes-Benz has already had to cut production in Sindelfingen, and at Porsche, production of its luxury electric car Taycan is being affected. This is mainly due to the interrupted supply chain from Ukraine, which is one of the main suppliers of raw materials, such as cobalt, that are used in the production of e-car batteries. But a halt in gas supplies from Russia would potentially have even more far-reaching consequences. “We need gas for production,” Hartung told Handelsblatt. “Bosch itself covers 20% of its energy needs with gas. So we don’t need very large quantities, but some of our suppliers do.”
Bosch is the world’s largest supplier of components for the auto industry, among many other activities. Because Bosch has so far not pulled out of Russia, Ukrainian propaganda has attacked Bosch, alleging it is producing components of Russian tanks, which Bosch has denied.
Should gas supplies from Russia be halted, Bosch would not be the only one affected. “If Germany unilaterally abandons Russian gas supplies, highly relevant elements of the supply chain will break down, and not just at Bosch,” Hartung said. “I am therefore firmly in favor of not renouncing gas supplies for the time being.” As he told Handelsblatt, “In the event of a gas supply freeze, we expect a swift halt to all industrial production ... the effect would go far beyond the disruption caused by the coronavirus.”
Russian UN Representative Warns Against More Provocations Planned for Ukraine
April 12 (EIRNS)—Dmitry Polyanskiy, Russia’s First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, delivered a statement to the UN Security Council yesterday in which, among other things, he listed the provocations of which Moscow says it has evidence as being planned for Ukraine, of crimes to be blamed on Russia.
After refuting the Kramatorsk railway terminal provocation, Polyanskiy provided a list of new provocations that are now in preparation:
• Staged filming of the search and opening of mass graves in Ragovka settlement of Kyiv region.
• Reporters from Western media have arrived at the town of Kremyannaya. Their goal is to film a provocation organized by Ukrainian armed forces. This time it should be about Russian troops allegedly shooting at ambulances that transport patients.
• In Bilogorovka, neo-Nazis have mined chlorine tanks at a water supply plant, which they plan to blow up when Luhansk People’s Republic militia formations approach the town.
Polyanskiy listed several others being planned for Irpen in the Kyiv region, two more in the Sumy region, and yet another planned for Odessa.
“Both past and planned provocations, coupled with the notorious practice of using civilians as a human shield, startle with inhumane attitude to the future of Ukrainian people and prove that Ukrainian nationalists are in full neglect of any moral norms and rules of the international humanitarian law,” Ambassador Polyanskiy said. “As we repeatedly stated, Russia does not fight Ukrainian civil population.”
The agenda for the meeting that Polyanskiy was addressing was dedicated to the issue of women, peace, and security. “In respect to Ukraine, this agenda is highly politicized and imbued with provocations,” Polyanskiy said. “We clearly see an intention to present Russian soldiers as sadists and rapists—in the same manner as one tried to present Soviet winner-warriors of World War II as sadists and rapists back in that day. Neither goals, nor the Russophobic sentiment of Ukraine’s inherited propaganda playbooks have changed.
“However reality proves otherwise. Despite all tricks, truth about heinous tortures of civilians (including women and children) by sadists from Ukrainian nationalist battalions sometimes does get through to Western audience.”
At the same time, British provocateur Col. Hamish de Bretton-Gordon continues to play his part in setting up the provocations that Polyanskiy was warning against, even as far afield as in New Zealand. “I saw the four-year sieges of Aleppo being fought conventionally but then just 13 days of using chlorine, the original chemical weapon from the First World War, broke that siege,” de Bretton-Gordon claimed, reported New Zealand’s 1News. Footage of a chemical attack in Syria during the height of the nation’s civil war showed children and adults choking and vomiting, writhing in agony, 1News breathlessly claimed, without mentioning that the videos were fake.
And as the war rages in Ukraine, de Bretton-Gordon, author of Chemical Warrior: Syria, Salisbury and Saving Lives at War, claims to be worried that history will repeat itself. “What Putin is trying to do in Ukraine is terrify the civilian populations into surrender, and sadly chemical weapons are really good at doing that.”
De Bretton-Gordon lied about what actually happened in Aleppo in 2016. The Syrian army, with Russian support, liberated the city by means of a well-executed, block-by-block offensive, which finally forced the jihadis to agree to be evacuated from the eastern parts of the city that they still occupied. But de Bretton-Gordon continued with his lies, claiming that Russian forces are using chlorine and other industrial chemicals that they find in Ukraine, as weapons.
Zelenskyy Refuses To Meet with German President Steinmeier
April 12 (EIRNS)—While the Ukrainian President is meeting with everybody and his brother to fight an imperialist war for NATO, he will not speak with potential peacemakers. Volodymyr Zelenskyy has declined to speak with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, reportedly because Steinmeier is considered too close to Putin. As Steinmeier was preparing, along with other leaders, to visit Kyiv, he received news that he was no longer invited.

Tiresome lot, ain’t they?
MEANWHILE:
NATO is making moves to create a structure to police governments in the name of “democracy,” unifying NATO military functions with the deployment of “democracy” NGOs. The stated objectives of the proposed “Centre for Democratic Resilience,” will be “monitoring and identifying challenges to democracy, human rights, and the rule of law among member, partner, and aspirant states...; to provide constructive attention to threats to democratic principles, such as erosions in judicial independence or the undermining of civilian oversight of the military, and, when requested, make remedial recommendations;” and “partner with democracy promotion organizations to assist governments to develop laws, policies, and institutions to prevent and combat corruption, improve election integrity, and other governance challenges that undermine democracy and make member states vulnerable to external malign influence.”
Remember the article I wrote about “THE RULE OF LAW” slipping into speeches and press releases willy-nilly? Watch out for this phrase, it speaks VOLUMES.
See this for clarification:
The Masters of the Universe asked Europe to commit suicide and it did.
I strongly doubt that the "Rule of the Jungle Law" will bend India.
They're asking them to scrap 60-70% of their defense equipment (bought from Russia) and buy "cutting edge" equipment that is 10X more expensive and 2-5X less performant in real world!!!
If you haven't been following closely the Yemen onslaught since 2015 this is what's happening.
1. McCain (I hope he already reincarnated in Yemen) asked Ben Salmane to attack Yemen. Help him build a coalition of the willing of dozens of Muslim countries.
2. The US, France, Germany, UK were going to do support work only. Training the "democratic forces-legitimate government!!" and providing fighter jets re-fueling.
3. It was supposed to be a 3 week cakewalk (does that sound familiar - Saddam's WMD-2003!!)
Why are they still bogged down in Yemen in 2022?
1. The most performant ABM systems in the world that Saudi Arabia bought from the US ($10-25Billion) turned out to be worse than toys. PAC2 and PAC3 patriots ABMs missiles ($1-$3 million each) where unable to shoot down Yemeni drones ($5000 each!!!)
2. In 2019 we saw Yemeni ballistic missiles stopping oil production in Saudi Arabia for 1 month!!
3. There is a ceasefire now because Yemen turned Saudi oil refinery in Jeddah into ashes with a single ballistic missile and the PAC systems were all blind!!! - 5million barrels of oil burnt.
All informed observers know that Saudia Arabia cannot win in Yemen after 7 years and after spending ~$400 billion. It's over and this is because NATO has been selling toys to the Gulf Monarchs to the tune of $120 billion per year for their security for decades. Now they know that it was a security bubble!!
Will India fall into that trap? I strongly doubt!
beware of Soros... here in LA (and all over US) Soros backed District Attorney George Gascon is facing recall election (assuming the system isn’t already rigged) amid a destructive crime wave fanned by his soft on criminals, hard on victims policies.
