“Demand for oil continues to grow. According to the chief executive of Vitol, the commodity trading major, global oil demand is set to pass the 100-million –barrel-daily threshold this year for the first time. “Demand is going to surge in the second half,” Russell Hardy told Bloomberg earlier this month.
While demand is surging, Big Oil in Europe is being pressured to reduce its oil production, in the case of Shell with a court ruling, and in the United States, shale drillers cannot drill fast enough to keep up with demand growth. They are also suffering the fallout of the supply chain havoc wrought on the U.S. economy by the pandemic, so production recovery is going slower than it otherwise could have.”

Just what British Petroleum has hedged for since the 1970s. BP has several HUGE oil fields explored, drilled and capped off globally. Magnus2 in the Arctic Circle and SeaLion off the Falkland Islands have barely been tickled so far. These two I am certain about because my husband was on the drill when they struck oil. He even brought the used tungsten drill bit home and we used it as a door stop!
Maggie Thatcher’s 1982 war between Argentina and Britain was about that oil discovery off the Falkland Islands, aka Las Malvinas as they are known by the Argentinians who have always disputed British ownership of the islands off its coast.
A UN directive prevented BP from exploiting SeaLion field due to the Argentinian claim and everything went quiet from 1982 forward until BP encouraged a new company to set up. Falkland Oil and Gas Ltd, registered in London in 2004.
It merged with Rockhopper Exploration, another UK startup in 2005.

The oil rig which made both discoveries, in the Magnus North Sea Field and SeaLion Falklands Field in the early 1980s was the Sea Conquest which has been written out of BPs history on their website.
However its existence can be verified by viewing this old footage by Grampian News which was recorded when my husband was on board.

During my time, campaigning against Fracking I came across another snippet of information which spiked my interest.
”A new floating dock has quietly been delivered to the South Georgia Island in preparation for the day that they start bringing that oil online. It is rumoured to be the largest floating dock in the world.” But you won’t find a mention of it anywhere online now.
Why all the secrecy?
My Hive.blog article (2017)

I knew why the biggest fields discovered by BP were kept capped and secret.
It was obvious.
BP looked forward to a time when the world would be gasping for energy resources and then they would ‘miraculously’ produce and be in position to NAME THEIR PRICE.
UPDATE 4th Aug 2022:
Is fuel a fossil or abiotic?
When it comes to oil and gas there are always more angles on the story to drill into!

Exploration has continued via further shenanigans and shell companies:

An overview of British oil reserves:

"Premier Oil and Chrysaor Holdings plan to rename themselves Harbour Energy, assuming their respective shareholders approve the proposed merger. According to Premier, the new company will be the largest London-listed oil and independent in terms of production and reserves with competitive operating costs.
It will also have a lower carbon intensity than the average UK oil and gas producer, the company claimed, with a commitment to achieving ‘Net Zero’ greenhouse gas emissions by 2035."
